I've been developing some resources for student understanding of the Growth Mindset. I like to use the example of Bruce Lee (see quote above) and the original Karate Kid film (see clip below) to explore that idea of repetition and persistence for the development of new skills. Students can relate to it easily and then potentially apply to their different goals for the future.
The video below is about neuroplasticity which is great for exploring the science behind it all, and reflecting with students about the different ways we can build new habits, skills, attitudes and practices into daily life.
The file below is a reflection activity that could be used with students when exploring the goal setting process.
I made up this quick and easy resource to help my students remember the major defining features of a totalitarian state - they should then be able to make links to their particular case studies of 20th century dictators. The features mentioned are from the work of political scientists Carl Friedrich and Zbygniew Brezezinski. The pictures used are slight digital modifications of public domain images found online.
